DUP Mid Ulster MLA Ian McCrea has welcomed the announced resurfacing work which is to commence in the Springhill Road early next month at a cost of £120,000.

Speaking today Mr McCrea said:

“I welcome the long overdue resurfacing works to what is a very busy road between Moneymore and Coagh; and with the announced £120,000 resurfacing scheme, the Springhill Road will get a well warranted upgrade.

Long have we campaigned for our local roads to be resurfaced and I am delighted to see that work will commence early next month.

However with all such schemes there comes inevitable delays and with the majority of this work being programmed to be completed using lane closures, I would urge motorists to be patient and plan extra time for journeys.

Road Service have advised that full closure of the Springhill Road will be needed on Saturday 2 and Sunday 3 February to facilitate the final surfacing works. During this closure diversions via Drumullan and Coagh will be in operation. Local access will be retained.”
