McCrea Encourages Mid Ulster People To Attend The Electoral Registration & ID Clinics

DUP Mid Ulster MLA Ian McCrea has arranged in conjunction with the Electoral Office for Northern Ireland, three electoral registration and ID clinics to allow people in Mid Ulster to ensure that they have an electoral ID and are on the electoral register.

Speaking today Mr McCrea said:

“With the upcoming by election due in the next few weeks, it is important that everyone who is entitled to vote gets registered as well as having the correct photographic identification.

There is no better time to get on the register and give yourself that democratic right to have your say; if you want a voice then get registered to vote.

The electoral office clinics will be held in:

• The Bridwell, Magherafelt - Monday 18 February 2013 between 2:00 - 4:00pm
• Maghera Orange Hall - Monday 18 February 2013 between 5:00 – 7:00pm
• Cookstown Orange Hall, Fairhill Road - Tuesday 19 February between 5:00 - 7:00pm.

It is important that everyone brings along an original copy of one of the following documents which proves your current address:

• a bank (including Post Office), building society or credit union statement of account (including a mortgage account) addressed to the applicant at the address on the application form and dated within the previous 3 months. A pass book is not acceptable
• a debit or credit card statement in the name of the applicant addressed to the applicant at the address on the application form and dated within the previous 3 months
• a bill or statement from the Land and Property Services Agency (formerly the Rates Collection Agency) addressed to the applicant at the address on the application form and dated within the previous 3 months
• a bill for electricity, gas, water or telephone (other than a mobile phone) or a letter from a utility provider eg NIE/Phoenix gas issuing a meter card or setting up a direct debit addressed to the applicant at the address on the application form and dated within the previous 3 months
• the applicant’s driving licence (photographic part) if issued within the previous 3 months and showing the address stated on the application form
• a HM Revenue and Customs P2 Notice of Coding Form or Tax credit award letter addressed to the applicant at the address on the application form and dated within the previous 3 months
• a Social Security Agency Jobseekers Allowance payment letter addressed to the applicant at the address on the application form and dated within the previous 3 months
• a record provided to EONI by the NIO in connection with British citizenship showing the address stated on the application form and dated within the previous 3 months
• a record provided to EONI by the BSO under regulation 42 of the 2008 Regulations issued within the previous 3 months showing the address stated on the application form
• a record provided to EONI by the DWP under regulation 42 of the 2008 Regulations showing the address stated on the application form
• a record provided to EONI by the NIHE under regulation 42 of the 2008 Regulations issued within the previous 3 months showing the address stated on the application form
• a record provided to EONI by the principal of a school under regulation 42 of the 2008 Regulations issued within the previous 3 months showing the address stated on the application form
• where the applicant proves, by production of a marriage certificate, the birth certificate of a child or a certificate of civil partnership, that he/she is a spouse or civil partner, any of the above evidence in relation to that spouse or civil partner
• a letter dated within the last month on the headed notepaper of a nursing home, care home, hostel, religious house, other residential establishment, day centre or similar establishment in the form specified at Annex A signed by the matron, warden, manager or person in charge of that establishment (who must be on the electoral register)

If you do not have a passport, driving licence, Translink Senior SmartPass, 60+ SmartPass, War Disabled SmartPass or Blind Person's SmartPass, you will need an electoral identity card to vote at the election.”
